BROOKLINE, MASS. - In a double header against the University of Maine Fort Kent, Fisher College secured a win in Game One but fell short in Game Two. Concluding the day with a split result puts fisher to a 18-13 record, Fort-Kent will sit at 11-4.
Game One: Fisher College 3, Maine-Fort Kent 1 (Final)
In Game One, Fisher won 3-1, with match scores of 25-14, 25-27, 30-28, and 25-14.
Senior Ali Tkach (Sarasota, Fla.) led the way with 12 kills, 14 digs, and 4 service aces. Junior Alondra Farinacci (Ponce, Puerto Rico) contributed 11 kills, 24 assists, and 20 digs, playing a pivotal role in both offense and defense. Senior Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) added 18 assists, 15 digs, and 5 service aces, helping to orchestrate the offense and solidify the back row. Senior Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) posted 35 digs and 2 service aces, anchoring the defense.
For Fort Kent, junior Maria Pena (Waldorf, Maryland) recorded 10 kills and 24 digs, while senior Kaylse Whitehead (Kingman, Ariz.) added 9 kills, 14 digs, and 2 blocks. Senior Carla Rodriguez (Gijon, Spain) contributed 29 assists and 20 digs, and freshman Jamilyn Amina (Kapolei, Hawaii) posted 29 digs.
Game Two: Fisher College 1, Maine-Fort Kent 3 (Final)
In Game Two, Fisher dropped the match 0-3, with scores of 25-22, 15-25, 22-25, and 24-26. Tkach again led Fisher with 15 kills, 11 digs, and 3 service aces. Farinacci recorded 20 assists, while Velazquez contributed 7 kills, 13 assists, and 3 service aces. Irizarry continued to shine defensively with 34 digs. Natalia Ramirez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) had 7 kills and 2 solo blocks, and junior Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.) added 7 kills and 3 service aces.
For Fort Kent, Pena registered 16 kills and 14 digs, while Whitehead had 12 kills and 4 solo blocks. Amina posted 10 kills and 17 digs, and Rodriguez contributed with a hefty 37 assists and 16 digs. Sophomore Nathalia Cintron (Haverhill, Mass.) added 15 digs and 3 service aces.
Fisher's next match will be at home against Salem State University on November 1 at 7:00 p.m. Fort Kent will face Thomas College away on October 27 at 12:00 p.m.
